Alford Traffic Services Ltd was founded in 1976 by Mr. Robert Anthony Smith (Tony) and John Spence and was owned solely by Tony from 1995. Tony built the business up from a purely sub-contracting company to one which owns a fleet of 18 bulk tipping vehicles. In 1989 Jonathan Graves joined the workforce as a trainee, but his potential  was soon realised and he began his training towards his position of Transport Manager. In 1999 Jonathan was promoted into this key role. In September 2000 Alison Randall joined the management team as Financial Controller. As Tony approached retirement age he made the decision to reduce his workload and in 2003 a management buy out was initiated and the management team of Jonathan and Alison acquired the company.

In 2004 William Peck joined the company as a trainee with the aim of becoming the Transport Manager. He was promoted to this position in 2006.

In 2007, Laura joined the company as a trainee Accounts Assistant.

In January 2008, Alford Traffic Services acquired a new depot in Lincoln trading under the name of Marshall Barry. Due to the company expanding, new team members were employed to help run the fleet, which has grown to 35 lorries. Brian is Marshall Barry’s Transport Manager, Mike is a Transport Assistant and more recently Jacqui has joined us as an Accounts Assistant for Marshall Barry.
